New York: 20 Killed in Limousine Accident Near Albany, Confirms Police

New York, October 7: At least 20 people have been killed in a limousine accident which occured in upstate New York, the US media quoted the police as saying on Sunday. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the car crash.
The fatal accident occurred on Saturday, at around 2pm (local time). The site of the two-vehicle crash is reported to be the intersection of State Route 30 and State Route 30A in Schoharie -- which is located approximately 40 miles away from Albany. Following the accident, a team of rescuers were rushed to the site by town's sheriff's office, along with the fire safety department. Later in the day, a team of investigators was dispatched to the site by the National Transport Safety Department.
"What we can tell you at this point is that it is a 2 vehicle, multi fatalities as a result of this crash. The investigation is very preliminary it’s in its infancy stages,” New York State Police Capt. Richard O’Brien said in a late-night press briefing on Saturday.
The identities of the deceased would be confirmed in a press conference to be addressed by the police at 3pm (local time) today.
In the past decade, a number of fatal limo accidents have been reported in New York region. The NTBS, at the insistence of New York Senator Chuck Schumer, had in 2015 decided to conduct a case-by-case investigation of the limo crashes in the city over the last 10 years.
