Nepal: Rain-triggered Landslides Kill 11 people in Gulmi District

At least 11 people, including four children, were killed on Tuesday when landslides triggered by incessant rains buried the houses in the Western district of Gulmi, police said. According to cops, two people are still missing.

Gulmi, July 23: At least 11 people, including four children, were killed on Tuesday when landslides triggered by incessant rains buried the houses in the Western district of Gulmi, police said. According to cops, two people are still missing and two others are injured in different locations of Satyawati Rural Municipality (SRM) in the district. The Nepal Police, Nepal Army as well as villagers are present in the site. Rescue operations are underway. According to reports, the landslides occurred due to heavy rains last night in Satyawati-4's Limgha area and Satyawati-3's Thulo Lumpek area. The torrential rains in Nepal have affected around 2.6 million people in the country. The Himalayan nation has been witnessing heavy rains since July 11. The river flowing from Nepal has also flooded parts of Indian state Bihar.
