Kathmandu, Mar 12: A flight of US-Bangla Airline, a Bangladesh-based carrier, crashed at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport here in Kathmandu on Monday. At least 50 people onboard were confirmed dead, whereas 23 others sustained injuries.
The plane was identified as S2-AGU, a Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, by a local scribe. The crash reportedly occurred at 2:20 pm local time, claimed flight tracking website FlightRadar24.
The aircraft had taken off from Dhaka earlier in the day and was scheduled to reach Kathmandu.

Firefighters were rushed to the spot for the rescue operations as soon as the crash was reported.
Eyewitnesses claim the flight descended towards the airport in "an unusual manner", before ramming into the east side of the runway at a high speed. Following the crash, the aircraft was caught in flames.
The images on social media showed dense smoke rising from the eastern part of the runway.
