Kathmandu, Sept 8: A helicopter with seven people onboard has crashed in the Dhading district of Nepal, located 80-kilometres west of Kathmandu. The accident has reportedly taken place in the mountainous region close to the border of Nuwakot.
A search operation has been launched to find the seven people onboard, which included the pilot and six passengers. According to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu , rescue choppers have been deployed for the rescue operation, apart from soldiers and police personnel scanning the region on foot.
The Nepali government is monitoring the rescue operation. Prime Minister KP Oli has reportedly ordered the security agencies to act on war-footing to minimise the casualties.
Notably, the airbus which crashed was manufactured by Altitude Air in Nepal and has been used in earlier mountain rescues.
The chopper crash in Nepal comes days after a Dhaka-based U.S.-Bangla Airlines crash-landed near the Kathmandu airport, leading to the death of over 50 passengers.
