Islamabad, September 19: In the latest development, the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday has suspended the jail term of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar in the Avenfield reference. The Court pronounced the verdict while hearing petitions filed by the Sharif family against their conviction in the Avenfield reference.

According to report, published by Daily Pakistan, a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court comprising Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Athar Minallah pronounced the verdict. The two-member bench noted that as per the investigations, the ownership of London flats could not be attributed to the former prime minister.

Former prime minister Sharif was sentenced to 10 years in jail, his daughter Maryam was sentenced to seven years while son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar was sentenced to one year in prison. All of them were imprisoned in the Adiala jail.
