Monica Lewinsky has a past that no can ever let go off. The former social activist was involved in one of the biggest scandals involving a president. During the years 1995-1997, Lewinsky was involved in a sexual relationship with the Bill Clinton, the then President of the United States. Clinton was 27 years senior to her and she was just 22 years old. An intern in the office was involved in the political sex scandal of 1998. But years ahead, she has penned down a very powerful letter in the March edition of Vanity Fair and joined the revolutionary #MeToo movement.

This piece is a part of the investigation into the anniversary of Kenneth Starr's investigation into Clinton. This investigation led to his impeachment later on. Lewinsky acknowledged the sexual relationship between her and Clinton but also explained how the movement helped her to reevaluate herself. She writes, "For two decades, I have been working on myself, my trauma, and my healing." She spoke of her eventual trauma and how it changed over the years.

She no more feels alone today and talked about safety which comes from solidarity. She mentions of the overbearing authority over her at that time. To quote her, "I now see how problematic it was that the two of us even got to a place where there was a question of consent." She has explained how other women coming up and openly talking about being victimized helped her heal. "He was my boss. He was the most powerful man on the planet. He was 27 years my senior, with enough life experience to know better. He was, at the time, at the pinnacle of his career, while I was in my first job out of college," she stresses on the power of Clinton at that time.

While concluding she writes how grateful she is to other women who have been open about their relationship abuse. She is definitely in a better space now than she was years before.
