San Francisco, April 26: Mint Butterfield, the 16-year-old daughter of billionaire Slack co-founder Stewart Butterfield, has reportedly gone missing. She was last seen at 10 p.m. on Sunday in Bolinas, California, according to Marin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Deputy Jose Suarez. Mint also has a history of substance abuse, according to reports.
A report in The San Francisco Standard said that Mint was reportedly wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pyjama pants, and black boots at the time of her disappearance. The teenager, who was living with her mother and attending a private boarding school in Napa, is feared to have fled to the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. The area is notorious for its high crime rates, homelessness, and drug trade. Mint allegedly has a history of substance abuse and has been known to frequent the Tenderloin, authorities added. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office has issued a notice to citizens, urging them to contact the office with any information on Mint’s whereabouts. Pamphlets regarding her disappearance have also been shared.
Stewart Butterfield co-founded the messaging app Slack in 2013 but left the company after Salesforce acquired the platform for $28 billion in 2021. According to Forbes, his net worth is around $1.6 billion.
Butterfield also co-founded the imaging service Flickr with his ex-wife in 2004, which they sold to Yahoo! in 2005 for around $30 million. Butterfield and his ex-wife, who divorced in 2007, share one child together - Mint. In 2020, Butterfield remarried Jennifer Rubio, the co-founder and CEO of luggage manufacturer and retailer Away.
