After Rawalpindi Blast at Military hospital on Sunday, reports surfaced that UN-blacklisted terrorist and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar was also among the injured.
Rawalpindi, June 24: At least 10 people were injured after a blast rocked a military hospital in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi on Sunday. After the blast, reports surfaced that UN-blacklisted terrorist and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar was also among the injured. A human rights worker from Quetta, Ahsan Ullah MiaKhail tweeted claiming that Azhar was present inside the hospital when the blast took place. He also alleged that the army has barred the media from covering the incident. Here’s How China Blocked the Listing of Masood Azhar at the UNSC.
MiaKhail tweeted, “Huge #blast at Military Hospital in #Rawalpindi, #Pakistan. 10 injured shifted to emergency. Jaish-E-Mohammad Chief Maulana Masood Azahar is admitted here. Completely Media blackout by Army. Media asked Strictly not to cover this story.” However, the exact reason for the blast is still not known. Meanwhile, some believe it to be a terror attack. Masood Azhar Blacklisted: 'Good News for Global Community and India', Says French Envoy Alexandre Ziegler.
Miakhail's Tweet:
In May this year, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) had listed the JeM as a global terrorist. On May 1, the United States moved a plea in the United Nations to impose sanctions on Azhar and declare him a global terrorist. After the February 14 Pulwama Attack, France had also moved a similar plea in the UNSC to blacklist Azhar, but China blocked the move then. Before supporting the US’ plea against Azhar in the UNSC, China had put 'technical hold' four times on the move to blacklist JeM chief.
