New Delhi, September 9: Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar, who was reportedly taken into custody by Pakistan following the February 14 Pulwama attack, has been secretly released from prison, said reports citing the latest intelligence alert. The JeM, the intel input added, is likely to be used by Pakistan in its attempt to carry out cross-border terror attacks. 'Jaish Training Recruits For Underwater Attack, Indian Navy on High Alert'.

The intel warning comes days after Indian Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh was cautioned about a possible naval attack by the "underwater wing" of Jaish. The alert had prompted New Delhi to further strengthen the state of security and alertness along the coastlines.

The latest alert, as accessed by HT, also warns the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) to maintain high-level of precaution as Pakistan is covertly increasing the number of troopers stationed at Jammu-Sialkot and Rajasthan  borders.

Details of the intel input have been conveyed to the respective BSF units, asking them to remain prepared for any form of aggression from the Pakistani Rangers.

Meanwhile, tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate following the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir. Islamabad has warned that it will to go to any extent to "liberate" the people of J&K.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his speech to the public on Friday, said there is a high possibility of a war erupting in the next few days. His country, he added, would not back down from a military confrontation. The war may lead to a "catastrophic" result for both the nations, he said, adding that the international community would be responsible for the massive loss of lives as they are not intervening in the Kashmir issue.
