Bamako, June 10: Nearly 100 people have been killed in an attack in a village in Central Mali of African continent on Monday, said officials. However, local reports state that over 90 bodies have been found and more than 30 people are still missing.

A report from BBC state that the attack took place in Sobame Da, near Sanga town in the Mopti region where Dogon ethnic group killed the villagers. In the horrific attack, many bodies were found burnt alive. Mali Attack: 95 Killed By Gunmen in Dogon Village.

Local and regional government officials state that the attack was carried out by a group of armed men who arrived at Sona Koubou in the morning, a village that is inhabited by members of the Dogon ethnic group. They then surrounded it and set houses on fire while the residents were inside. When villagers tried to flee, they were shot down by the gunmen.

Earlier in March, 157 people were killed in an attack on Ogossagou village, which was allegedly carried out by Donzo hunters. United Nation reports state that inter-ethnic violence has left 250 people dead between January and May. This is a figure which is not being considered as violent attacks carried out by terror groups.
