Malaysia: Father-Daughter Duo From China Allegedly Die After Tree Falls on Their Car in Penang

Kuala Lumpur, September 20: In an unfortunate incident, a father-daughter duo were allegedly killed after a tree fell on their car in Malaysia. The alleged incident came to light when the bodies of the two Chinese tourists who were reportedly trapped in a car after a tree fell on it were recovered on Wednesday, September 18, at around 5 PM. The alleged incident occurred in the Pinang Peranakan Mansion in Lebuh Gereja in Penang.

According to reports, the victims have been identified as Liu Zhu (69) and his daughter Liu Xinxin (36). The accident occurred when the father-daughter duo were reportedly leaving a tourist attraction in Penang. Soon after the incident came to light, local police and authorities were alerted. It is reported that a crane was called in to lift the tree, whose roots were reportedly attached to a slab of concrete walls that came down along with the tree. In addition to the two casualties, the alleged accident damaged two other empty cars parked beside the trees. ACP Razlam Ab Hamid, police chief of Northeast district, confirmed the incident, saying that the victims were scheduled to check out from their hotel in Tanjung Bungah on Thursday, September 19. The postmortem report revealed that the father-daughter duo was due to traumatic asphyxia.
