The boy is currently in critical condition, and the man’s condition is unknown. Staff at the school performed CPR on the boy before the ambulances arrived.

Chris Quach, the head teacher of The Sele School in Hertford, posted on Facebook on Monday evening to say that a lightning strike during a district tournament at the school affected several people. The boy who was critically hurt was identified as a pupil at Chauncy School in Ware, Hertfordshire. According to Quach, his school was hosting a tournament, but its team was not participating. However, some members of his staff were present on the site and immediately rushed to get the defibrillators when a boy’s heart stopped. They performed CPR on him and were able to revive him. According to a spokesperson for the ambulance service, they received a call at approximately 5:15 PM BST reporting that a child and a man were struck by lightning in Welwyn Road, Hertford. The East Anglian Air Ambulance, two ambulance officer vehicles, an ambulance, a BASICS vehicle, and a rapid response car were dispatched to the scene. The child was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in critical condition, and the man was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for further care.
