North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un made history as he crossed over the Military Demarcation Line and shook hands with South President Moon Jae-in. This is the first time any North Korean leader has crossed the line since the Korean War that ended in 1953. The two smiled and chatted in the Demilitarized Zone for a while before the Inter Korean summit regarding denuclearisation began. Visiting for the historic peace talks, Kim Jong Un also signed South Korea's guestbook. A historic moment in itself everyone was left wondering what Kim could've written. It has now been clear that he wrote, 'A new history begins now - at the starting point of history and the era of peace.'

The venue of this summit was at the Peace House building on the southern side of the truce village of Panmunjom. Kim said, "I came here determined to send a starting signal at the threshold of a new history," he said, promising a "frank, serious and honest mindset". North Korean is high on their nuclear arsenal and that was a part of the meeting's agenda too. South President Moon hoped that it will be a bold agreement for the benefit of all the Koreans who are seeking peace.

Last year there were a series of missile launches, its sixth nuclear test but this discussion promised there would be no more of those. “There will be no more war on the Korean peninsula and thus a new era of peace has begun,” said a joint statement signed following the talks. Kim Jong-un said the Koreas are “linked by blood as a family and compatriots who cannot live separately.” Well, that is the essence of what Kim wrote in the guestbook and it is definitely a moment to cherish for all the Koreans.
