Islamabad, July 25: The result of Pakistan general elections 2018 will be declared today. Polling to elect the members of the National Assembly and the four Provincial Assemblies of Pakistan was held on July 25. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly has 99 seats. A total of 725 candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are in the run for the 272 general seats of the National Assembly. All eyes will be on Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which formed the minority government in coalition with the Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in 2013 elections.
The elections result of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assumes significance as the province is seen as the stronghold of the PTI. In 2008, the Awami National Party formed a coalition provincial government with the Pakistan Peoples Party. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is divided into seven Divisions – Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Hazara, Kohat, Malakand, Mardan and Peshawar plus seven agencies of Federally Administered Tribal Areas, which are now part of the province.
