Kashmiri diaspora staged a protest outside Pakistan High Commission in London on Monday against Pakistan’s atrocities in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

London, June 18: Kashmiri diaspora staged a protest outside Pakistan High Commission in London on Monday against Pakistan’s atrocities in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The protesters were demanding justice against the police brutality on activists in Muzaffarabad of PoK. The protest came a day after around 60 demonstrators were arrested in the city. Anti-Pakistan Protests Held Over Security Situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Pakistani police manhandled many protesters who blocked the highway demanding the immediate termination of hydropower projects on the Neelum and Jhelum rivers. According to locals, the hydropower projects would divert the water of river Jhelum which will affect the day-to-day lives of the city's residents. PoK Activists Hold Anti-Pakistan Protest in London.

The residents have been on a sit-in for over two months over the issue but the authorities have failed to listen to their demands. Shops and businesses in the city were shut down on Sunday as a mark of protest against the police action on demonstrators. Those detained by police include Afzal Sulahria, Shoukat Nawaz Mir, Kamran Baig, Basit Qurashi and, Lala Mustafa.
