Kansas, October 30: In a tragic incident at Cook Airfield, a privately owned airport in US’ Kansas, a 37-year-old photographer named Amanda Gallagher lost her life after accidentally backing into a plane’s spinning propeller while taking photos. The incident occurred around 2:40 pm on Saturday as Gallagher, an experienced travel photographer and owner of AG Photography, was at the airfield to capture images of skydivers.
According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, Gallagher “made contact with a grounded and stationary, but still running plane” just outside Wichita. Air Capital Drop Zone, a Kansas-based skydiving company, stated that Gallagher was booked to document skydiving activities that day. Following a landing, while the next group of divers was boarding the Cessna 182 aircraft, Gallagher reportedly moved in front of the wing and stepped backward into the spinning propeller while focusing through her camera.
