Kabul Blast: 48 People Dead, 67 Injured In Suicide Bombing at Dasht-e-Barchi

Kabul, August 15: The death toll of the suicide attack in Kabul’s Shiite area has risen to 48. According to TOLO News’ report, 67 people have also been injured in the bombing inside Mawoud Academy in Kabul's Dasht-e-Barchi. Victims have been rushed to various hospitals in Kabul. No terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Earlier in the day, 44 policemen and soldiers were reported to be killed in a Taliban attack in Afghanistan’s northern province of Baghlan. According to reports, nine police personnel and 35 soldiers were killed in the attack. “The group targeted a military base and two check posts in Baghlan, killing 70 Afghan security forces, and seizing armoured vehicles and ammunition,” reported Reuters quoting A Taliban spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid as saying.
On July 23, around 23 people were killed and 107 were injured in a suicide bombing by the Islamic State at the entrance of the main airport in Afghanistan's capital Kabul. According to reports, a suicide bomber struck minutes after the convoy of Afghan Vice President General Abdul Rasheed Dostum, had passed from the area.
Taliban has launched an offensive in Afghanistan's city of Ghazni since August 10. Over 300 people, including 100 government troops and 30 civilians, were killed in the intense fighting between Taliban militants and the security forces. At least 147 militants were also injured in the offensive. The US was supporting the Afghan government forces in conducting airstrikes targeting the Taliban.
