Detroit, December 14: Meteorologist Jessica Starr, associated with Fox 2 news channel, has committed suicide. Her demise has left the news fraternity in Detroit shocked. The 35-year-old was one of the prominent weather anchors in the United States.

On her demise, Fox 2 issued a statement recalling her professional vigour and dedication. "All of us here are in shock and cannot believe such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us," the news channel said on Thursday, a day after she ended her life by hanging from the neck till death. Zee News Rajasthan TV Anchor Radhika Kaushik 'Falls to Death' From 4th Floor Residence in Noida, Foul Play Suspected.

Starr, who was married, is survived by daughter Riley, and son Noah. Her colleagues at Fox 2 claim that was facing medical issues over the past two months -- which had taken a toll on her mental health.

"Our hearts are broken. Last night we were informed our Jessica Starr took her life," her colleague and anchor Amy Andrew wrote on Twitter.

Starr, a native of Michigan, was committed towards pursuing a career in meteorology since early school days, her close friends recall. She obtained her meteorology degrees from Michigan State University and Mississippi State University. Before landing the meteorologist post at Fox 2, she worked at weather stations in Baltimore and Lansing.

Starr went off the screen in October, when she had to undergo a Lasik eye surgery. The last update on her health was posted by Starr on November 14. She had said: "...I need more time to recover. Please keep me in your thoughts during this challenging time. Will keep you updated."
