Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has topped this year’s Forbes World Billionaires list with a record fortune of $112 billion. Bezos’ fortune increased by $39.2 billion in 2017, thus dethroning Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, whose net worth is calculated to be around $90 billion. Jeff Bezos had also topped the Hurun Global Rich List 2018.

According to Forbes, Gates has topped the charts 18 times in the last 24 years, however, the gap in the fortunes between the two first-place behemoths is the largest since 2001.

Warren Buffet got the third spot in the list with a net worth of $84 billion. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg acquired the fifth spot with a net worth of $71 billion.

US President Donald Trump has fallen 222 places on the Forbes annual Rich List, after his estimated worth of $3.5bn fell to $3.1bn. As per Forbes, the slide was partially owing to a fall in the value of central New York property values and falling revenues at his golf courses.

More than 2,200 billionaires made it to the Forbes list and their combined net worth is $9.1 trillion which is equal to approximately half the GDP of the United States.
