Japan Rail Services Stopped Temporarily Near Tokyo In a Rare Incident After Truck Collides With Train

Japan rail services are famous all over the world for their punctuality. On a rare occasion, Japan rail services were stopped temporarily on Thursday in Tokyo after a truck collided with a train at a crossing. In the incident, at least 35 people were injured.

Tokyo, September 5: Japan rail services are famous all over the world for their punctuality. On a rare occasion, Japan rail services were stopped temporarily on Thursday in Tokyo after a truck collided with a train at a crossing. In the incident, at least 35 people were injured. He was pulled out of the debris and was taken to a nearby hospital immediately where his condition was reported to be very critical. Ryo Nagakura, a crisis management official at Yokohama City, told AFP that the critically injured person is in a “state of cardiorespiratory arrest.” This medical term is used to indicate person’s death before doctors officially confirm it.

The glass of the driver’s compartment was found shattered. The first three cars of the train of the eight-carriage train were derailed. The train was heading towards Tokyo. After the crash, black smoke billowed from parts of the derailed train and the truck. Earlier this year in January, around 14 people suffered injuries after a driverless train in suburban Tokyo had collided into the buffers. In the Japan’s deadliest train accident in February 1947, around 184 commuters were killed.

Train are so punctual in the island country that whenever the services are delayed or depart early, authorities always apologise for the inconvenience caused to commuters. In 2017, when a train in Japan departed nearly 20 seconds early, the Japanese rail company had issued an apology.
