Jerusalem, June 21: Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has been charged with fraud over alleged misuse of funds at Prime Minister's residence, reports said.

According to the Jerusalem's Justice Ministry, suspicions included the misuse of around $100,000 in official funds for catering services at the prime minister's residence in Jerusalem have been reported.

According to reports, Sara was charged along with Ezra Saidoff, a former deputy director general of the Prime Minister's Office. Reports inform that the two are charged in an indictment filed at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court with aggravated fraudulent receiving of an item or items, fraud and breach of trust.

Sara Netanyahu received much media attention on a negative note due to allegations of poor interpersonal relations during her husband's first term as Prime Minister.

As per reports, Sara won a libel case filed against Schocken publishers for falsely maligning her, and a libel suit in 2002 against the local paper Kol Ha'ir, after two unfounded reports were published about her in the paper's gossip column.
