Mumbai, October 9: According to the 2019 Henley Passport Index released, the Japanese passport is the most powerful in the world for the second year in a row. However, this time it shares the honour with Singapore, which has moved from the second place to the joint first position. The Indian passport dropped one place from last year and is ranked at the 82nd position. The second place is jointly shared by Finland, Germany and South Korea. The third place by Denmark, Italy and Luxembourg passport. Fourth on the list are France, Spain and Sweden. Austria, Netherlands and Portugal are number five on the list.

The United States and the United Kingdom passports are number six on the list. China slipped one place too and is 72 on the list. Pakistan is 104 on the list.

The Henley Passport Index is the original ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The ranking is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world’s largest and most accurate database of travel information, and enhanced by ongoing research by the Henley & Partners Research Department.
