Islamabad, Aug 10: Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria, along with his deputy JP Singh, met Pakistan Prime Minister-elect Imran Khan on Friday. To greet Khan on his election victory, Bisaria gifted him a cricket bat autographed by the entire Indian cricket team.

The two sides held brief interactions at 4:30 pm (local time), reported local media. The meeting lasted for 30 minutes, said the statement issued by the High Commission, adding that Bisaria conveyed the concerns of India on "cross-border infiltration and terrorism".

Here is the image tweeted by the Indian High Commission after Khan's meeting with the Indian envoys:

Khan, whose Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the single-largest party in the general elections held last month, is expected to take oath as the Prime Minister on August 18.

Following his win, Khan expressed his will to improve bilateral ties with India, saying his government will move two steps towards New Delhi, provided the "first step come from India". He also pitched for an end to the "constant blame-game between India-Pakistan", saying all key issues, including Kashmir, should be resolved through dialogue.

Reciprocating to his gesture, Indian PM Narendra Modi had dialled Khan and congratulated him on his poll win. Speculations were rife on whether Khan would invite Modi for his swearing-in. The PTI, however, announced the party would be conducting an austere oath-taking ceremony, with no invitation to be extended to any foreign dignitary.
