New Delhi, July 31: Pakistan Prime Minister-designate Imran Khan is likely to invite PM Narendra Modi for his swearing-in ceremony, which is set to take place on August 11. According to reports, Khan is considering sending an invite to PM Modi. On the other hand, reports also say that the Indian government will decide on the invite "only after receiving it".
PM Narendra Modi had earlier this week called Khan and congratulated him on his victory in the Pakistan elections 2018. PM Modi reportedly expressed hope that democracy would take deeper roots in Pakistan.

Imran Khan on Monday thanked Modi, saying the two countries should engage in dialogue to resolve disputes. "Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman over his success in elections and extended his best wishes," Imran Khan's party said on Twitter. "Imran Khan said that disputes should be resolved through dialogue, and war and bloodshed cannot resolve disputes," it added. Khan said the two countries should focus on a joint plan to eradicate poverty.
In May 2014, the then Pakistan prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, had attended Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony in India after receiving an invite from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It now remains to be seen whether Modi would do the same.
