New Delhi, Mar 1: China, with 819 billionaires, has wrested the first spot in Hurun Global Rich List of 2018. Last year, the position was held by the United States of America. India, which had slipped to the fourth rank last year, reclaimed the third spot from Germany by adding 31 new billionaires this year.

According to the report, India has a total of 130 billionaires. If those from Indian-origin are also taken into account, the number would jump to 171.

In 2017, the report said, at least 31 billionaires from India migrated. Their most preferred locations were the UK, the US and the UAE.

In India, the maximum number of billionaires - 19 - belong to the Pharmaceutical sector, followed by 14 from Automobile sector and 11 from the FMCG sector, the report added.

Top 100 billionaires

The elite list features four Indians -- with Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) chairman Mukesh Ambani at the 19th spot, Sun Pharma chief Dilip Shanghvi at 87th, Adani Enterprises' Gautam Adani at 88th rank and HCL group's Shiv Nadar at 98th position.

The number one spot on the list is occupied by Jeff Bezos CEO of Amazon. Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffett is at the second position. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is placed at the third spot, whereas, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg has been ranked fourth.

437 new billionaires last year, 4 per week in China

The survey, conducted in over 69 countries, found a total of 2,694 billionaires. The number jumped by 437, as compared to the total of billionaires recorded in the previous Hurun report.

China, meanwhile, recorded the entry of four new billionaires per week.

Mumbai, the abode of super-rich in India

Out of the 130 billionaires in India, 55 are based in Mumbai, followed by 29 in New Delhi. Meanwhile, China has been named as the "billionaire capital of the world" as 30 percent of world's most richest individuals are residing in the city. The title was earlier held by New York.
