Hurricane Michael Wreaks Havoc In Florida; One Dead, Thousands Rendered Homeless After Storm Makes Landfall

At least one person was killed in Florida while thousands of people were rendered homeless as Hurricane Michael made a landfall in the northwestern parts of the United States as a category 4 storm on Wednesday afternoon.

Florida, October 11: At least one person was killed in Florida while thousands of people were rendered homeless as Hurricane Michael made a landfall in the northwestern parts of the United States as a category 4 storm on Wednesday afternoon. As per reports, Rains and flooding disrupted lives in the city by ripping off roofs and structures of homes in Mexico Beach. Roofs of homes building and structures near the beach were blown off by the storm. Strong winds also brought down trees and snapped power lines.

Hurricane Michael is considered to be the strongest storm to hit the US Since Hurricane Andrew in 1992. According to a report published in CNN, the hurricane has picked up speed as it moves across southwestern Georgia at about 20 mph and as of Wednesday night, the storm was about 45 miles south-southwest of Macon. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are reaching the area where the destruction was caused by the storm. The  National Hurricane Center said that Michael would continue to weaken overnight and it is likely to become a tropical storm by Thursday morning (local time). It is currently of category 1 storm. On Friday, it is expected to move off the east coast of the US and becomes a post-tropical cyclone. Due to the storm, more than 5 million people are without power in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
