Hindu, Jewish Most Educated Communities in United States, Earn More Than Fellow Americans: Survey
Hindu Community beats the Jews by a margin of 17 percent at the post-graduate levels and stands at the first position with 48 percent in the list.
Washington, January 7: The United States is an educational hub and presence of globally renowned colleges attract students from all around. However, US students themselves look at education with a different perspective. The latest 2017 Religious Landscape Study survey reveal that among all the religious groups, the Hindu community is the most educated one in the United States, followed by Jewish.
According to the survey, both Hindus and Jewish stand at equal percentage when it comes to education at four-year graduate degree level – 29 percent, but Hindu Community beats the Jewish by a margin of 17 percent at post-graduate levels and stand at the first position with 48 percent in the list. Standing in the third position is the Buddhist community, which stands at 20 percent. The religious community which stands at the bottom is Jehovah’s Witness (3%), followed by Historically Black Protestants (6%). KCR Lists Medical Health, Education, Irrigation as Priority.
Attainment of a four-year college degree in the United States, often regarded as a key asset for economic success, varies by race and gender. But the share of people completing a college education also differs by religion, with members of some faith groups much more educated, on average, than others. All the groups listed in the graph are by education attainment and based on the data of study conducted by Pew Research Center.
The research centre states that the preference towards education attainment and economic success are correlated. Both the Jewish and Hindus, on average, have a high household income exceeding $100,000. On one side 44 percent Jewish communities earn more than $100,000, while 36 percent of Hindu communities have a similar income. On the other hand, Jehovah's Witness (4%) and Historically Black Protestants (8%) barely cross the $100,000 income mark.
