Tel Aviv, September 29: In a major development in Hassan Nasrallah killing, a report has said that the Hezbollah chief was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut following a tip-off from an Iranian spy. The spy informed Israeli authorities that Nasrallah would be at Hezbollah's underground headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut for a meeting with senior members of the group.

According to a report by French newspaper Le Parisien, Israeli authorities received a tip-off about Hezbollah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's location from an Iranian mole just hours before he was killed in an airstrike. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Nasrallah's death in a post on X (formerly Twitter) at around 1:30 PM IST (11:00 AM in Lebanon) on Saturday, saying, "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world." Hezbollah later confirmed the news, issuing a statement that read, "Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah... has joined his great, immortal martyr comrades whom he led for about 30 years." Hassan Nasrallah Killed: Lebanese Terrorist Group Hezbollah Confirms Death of Its Chief in Beirut Strike.

The Le Parisien report highlighted that Israeli officials received the crucial tip-off on Saturday afternoon, alerting them to the imminent arrival of a prominent Shiite leader at Hezbollah's headquarters, a six-building complex in Dahieh, Beirut's southern suburbs.

Another Senior Hezbollah Leader Killed in Israeli Strikes

Another senior Hezbollah leader, Nabil Kaouk, was also killed in the recent Israeli strikes targeting the group's senior figures. '33 Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Saturday', Lebanon's Health Ministry Says

Lebanon's health ministry reported that 33 people were killed during the Israeli airstrikes on Saturday. Over the past two weeks, more than 1,000 people have died, and at least 6,000 others have been wounded in Lebanon due to ongoing Israeli attacks. The ministry did not specify the breakdown between civilian and combatant casualties.

In a recent televised address, Nasrallah acknowledged that Hezbollah had suffered an "unprecedented blow" following Israel's detonation of explosive-rigged pagers and walkie-talkies. The attacks resulted in the deaths of 37 people over two days and left nearly 3,000 wounded. In response, Hezbollah vowed "tough retribution and just punishment, both in expected and unexpected ways."

An investigation by Lebanese authorities revealed that the pagers had been booby-trapped, as reported by news agency AFP. Hezbollah had reportedly switched to using pagers and walkie-talkies after Israeli forces intercepted their cellphone communications.
