Non-meat lovers or rather extreme vegetarians can get really offensive sometimes with the consumption of meat. India for once has seen extremist actions against those who consume beef in the country. Now butchers in French have asked the government to give them protection, from extremist vegans. Animal rights activists are apparently trying to shut down the meat shops and even change the country's culture by trying to impose a meat-free lifestyle.

The French Federation of butchers has written to the interior minister regarding the vandalism prevalent against their shops. The meat shops were sprinkled with fake blood and graffiti was done over them. This has been ongoing for 15 months and now has taken a form of extremism, more like terrorism. Federation chief Jean-François Guihard wrote in the letter, "It's terror that these people are seeking to sow, in their aim of making a whole section of French culture disappear." France Bans Use of 'Meat Terms' to Describe Vegan or Vegetarian Food.

Statistically speaking, vegans just make few percent of the French population but their lifestyle has got a lot of hype. 18,000 butchers in France have a worry over their head, given the growing influence of veganism in the media. Vandalism against the meat shops was reported in the month of April and the problem only seems to be intensifying.

It is not just the meat shops but even dairy products are a target. A shop in France was painted with "milk is rape" and "milk is murder." The promotion of veganism as a lifestyle has been on a scale that there was a proposal to introduce a weekly vegetarian meal. Although that has been rejected, the terror still remains. The letter concluded seeking support from the government. It said, “the attacks our butchers and delicatessens have suffered are essentially terrorism” and appealed to “stop the physical, verbal and moral violence.”
