Islamabad, Sept 12: The parole granted to former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Safdar), has been increased by three more days in view of the ex-first lady Kulsoom Nawaz's demise.

Kulsoom, who was being treated for cancer in London for the past few months, passed away on Tuesday. Nawaz's younger brother and PML-N chief Shehbaz Sharif had flown to London late night yesterday. He would bring the mortal remains back to Lahore on Friday. The funeral is scheduled on the same day in Jati Umra, where the Sharif family graveyard is located.

Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar are currently at their residence in Jati Umra, which the government has declared a sub-jail.

A meeting was held between Nawaz and Shahbaz on Tuesday. Both the brothers decided not to bring back Hasan Hussain -- the two sons of Nawaz staying in the UK -- for the funeral. The duo have cases registered against them in the accountability court. The Sharifs fear their arrest on landing back in Pakistan.

Kulsoom, 68, was diagnosed with cancer since August 2017 -- days after she won the parliamentary seat vacated by Nawaz due to non-disclosure of assets in the poll affidavit.

Meanwhile, Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar were jailed in July this year, days before the general elections in the nation. The trio were convicted by the accountability court for not disclosing their offshore assets before the tax authorities in Pakistan.
