Florida, September 2: A firefighter in US’ Florida and his wife have been charged with forcing a 16-year-old boy to engage in sexual acts at their home in Riverview. Sascha Engel, 39, a Fire Rescue lieutenant for Hillsborough County, and his wife, Alyssa Engel, 37, a former state attorney’s office employee, were arrested after the teenager reported the incident to a trusted adult, who then contacted the police.

The Mirror quoted the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as saying that the Engels had the teenager stay overnight in March 2024, during which they allegedly coerced him into having sex with Alyssa Engel. Alyssa admitted to being naked in front of the boy but denied any sexual intercourse. Sheriff Chad Chronister condemned the couple, highlighting the betrayal of trust by individuals in positions of authority. Due to Alyssa Engel’s previous employment at the state attorney’s office, the trial will be moved to Polk County to avoid any potential conflicts. Sascha Engel has been placed on administrative leave without pay following his arrest. The couple appeared in court, where a judge set their bail at USD 50,000 per count, totalling USD 300,000. The investigation is ongoing.
