Fire on Ferry Carrying More Than 300 People in the Baltic Sea After Explosion, No Injuries Reported

According to media reports, more than 300 people are stranded in the Baltic Sea after an explosion caused a fire on a ferry off the coast the Russian city of Kaliningrad, reported RT news. Russian and Lithuanian rescuers are already on their way for the rescue operation.
The Regina Seaways ferry, carrying 335 people onboard, was reportedly sailing from Germany’s Kiel to Lithuania’s Klaipeda when it was set ablaze on Tuesday after a blast.
The blast is believed to have taken place in the engine room, said RT news in its report. The vessel was sailing in international waters, said media reports. The MS ‘Regina Seaways’ was built in the year 2010.
"I clarify that there was no explosion. Just in the section of the engine, there was vibration and smoke appeared," Vaidas Klumbys, Communications Manager of DFDS stated.
