New York, June 26: YouTuber Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found dead, with his body pulled out of the East River on Tuesday morning, the New York Police Department has confirmed. The cause of demise is yet to be confirmed. Etika, the internet gaming sensation, has passed away at the age of 29.
Notably, Etika went missing on June 20, and had last appeared before his friends and followers on June 19. "We regret to inform that Desmond Amofah aka Etika has been found deceased," the police department said in its statement. YouTube Testing New 'Hide Comments' Feature on Android in India
YouTube, the video hosting platform through which Etika had gained fame, also issued a statement expressing sorrow over his demise.
"We mourn the loss of Etika, a beloved member of our gaming creator community. All of us at YouTube are sending condolences to his loved ones and fans," said the statement issued by YouTube Creators page on Twitter.

Although the official confirmation is awaited, a case of suicide is being suspected. The body will be sent for autopsy to further investigate the matter.
Significantly, Etika had ruffled feathers among the internet gaming community, after he posted tweets in April which were indicating a "suicidal mindset".
