Manila, May 31: An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck Philippines’ Mindanao at 3:42 pm IST on Friday. However, there are no reports of casualties or damage. More details are still awaited. Meanwhile, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the tremors measured 6.2 struck at a depth of 76 kilometres. Philippines falls on the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’. It is an arc of fault lines circling the Pacific Basin which are prone to frequent and large earthquakes. The region is also prone to Volcanic eruptions.
