Tokyo, August 14: An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale rocked Japan on Tuesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the quake has hit the Chiba Prefecture in Japan. It must be noted that the Chiba Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the Kanto region, and the Greater Tokyo Area. In a separate incident, a quake of measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit China's Yunnan Province late on Monday and damaged over 6,000 homes.
Reports inform that nearly 48,000 residents were affected due to the quake in Tonghai and Huaning counties and in the district of Jiangchuan, leaving at least 18 people injured. All injured persons are said to be in a stable condition.
On Monday, Alaska's North Slope was hit by the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in the region, the state's seismologist said. At 6:58 a.m. Sunday, the magnitude 6,.4 earthquake struck an area 42 miles (67 kilometers) east of Kavik River Camp and 343 miles (551 kilometers) northeast of Fairbanks, the state's second-biggest city.
