Suva, September 1: An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter Scale struck Fiji Islands on Sunday. Tremors were felt in the islands at around 9:24 pm IST, reported India Meteorological Department (IMD). However, there are no reports of any casualties or injuries in the quake. Meanwhile, no Tsunami warning has been issued in the region. According to reports, the epicentre of the quake was located 410 km southeast of Suva at a depth of 590 km. Earthquake of Magnitude 6.0 Jolts Fiji Islands.

Fiji is highly susceptible to regular quakes as it sits on the which is one of the most seismically active regions in the world. Last year in August, A strong 8.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Fiji. The tremor hit 361 kilometres (224 miles) east of the Pacific nation's capital Suva, at a depth of 559 kilometres.
