President Donald Trump has made a clear distance between himself and Judge Brett Kavanaugh, informing the audience in Mississippi that he had only recently met his embattled Supreme Court nominee. Trump was quoted as saying, "I met him for the first time a few weeks ago...So it's not like, oh, gee, I want to protect my friend." Trump was quoted as saying, "'Guilty until proven innocent, that's very dangerous for our country," with regards to Ford's testimony that Kavanaugh attempted to hold her down and remove her clothes in 1982, when both of them were high school students. Making fun of Ford's statement that 'I had one beer!, Trump mockingly said that she can't remember the date and time of the incident, but she clearly remembers that she had one beer.
The US President further highlighted that the Democrats opposed to Kavanaugh's nomination are 'evil people' who are out to 'destroy people.' According to him, Kavanaugh is 'like a perfect person who is destined for the Supreme Court.'
