Washington, November 3: Donald Trump has again made the headlines after he tweeted his Games of Throne-style picture on Friday to announce sanctions against Iran. On the picture, it was written “Sanctions are Coming”. The font style of the text on the picture resembled the signature line of Games of Thrones’ first season “winter is coming”. The text is superimposed on Trump’s image. Soon after, the US President tweeted the picture, he was mocked by netizens on Twitter, including the star cast of the HBO’s show. One of the main leads of the show Maisie Williams aka Arya Stark tweeted, “Not Today”. Similarly, another actor of ‘Games of Thrones’ 22-year-old Sophie Turner or Sansa Stark was also amused by Trump’s tweet.
The Twitter handle of the White House gave clarification on Trump’s tweet. The White House tweeted, “President @realDonaldTrump is reimposing all sanctions lifted under the unacceptable Iran deal. The U.S. is reimposing the toughest sanctions ever on Iran, targeting many of the corrupt regime’s critical sectors.” It also tweeted, “The United States has launched a campaign of economic pressure to deny the regime the funds it needs to advance its bloody agenda!” However, HBO also showed its displeasure over the tweet of the US president.
The US will re-impose sanctions against Iran from November 5 to economically punish Tehran’s regional aggression. In May, Trump pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Deal. After pulling out of the deal, the United States imposed the first set of sanctions in August. Trump’s decision to withdraw from the 2015 nuclear agreement infuriated Iran as well as the other countries that negotiated the deal including Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China.
