Donald Trump Says 'Will Assist in Resolving Kashmir Issue' If Narendra Modi And Imran Khan Want Him to Intervene
US President Donald Trump said he is ready to assist if the two South Asian neighbours wanted him to help in resolving the decades-old Kashmir issue. Trump was referring to his last week meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Washington, August 2: United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said it was up to India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute. Commenting on India rejected US's mediation offer, Trump said, "It is really up to PM Modi. And I met with Prime Minister Khan; I got along great. I think they’re fantastic people, Khan and Modi. He further highlighted that he was ready to assist if the two South Asian neighbours wanted him to help in resolving the decades-old issue. Trump was referring to his last week meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, where he spoke about offering help in resolving the Kashmir matter. India had rejected the offer, while Pakistan welcomed it.

Soon after Trump's statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) was quick to issue a clarification on US President Donald Trump's claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked Trump to mediate on Kashmir issue, saying 'no such request has been made.
When Trump met khan, he said that "PM Modi asked for help on disputed Kashmir," adding that he would "love to be a mediator".
