Donald Trump Offers to Mediate Again in 'Complicated' Kashmir Issue, Says 'Hindus And Muslims Don't Get Along Well'
In an interview with NBC News, US President Trump said, "Kashmir is a very complicated place. You have the Hindus, and you have the Muslims, and I wouldn’t say they get along so great. And that’s what you have right now.” This comes a day after dialling Narendra Modi and Imran Khan over Kashmir issue.
Washington, August 21: US President Donald Trump has once again offered to mediate in the Kashmir issue on Tuesday, despite India making it clear that the ongoing crisis will be managed bilaterally between India and Pakistan. A day after dialling India and Pakistan Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Imran Khan respectively over Kashmir issue, Donald Trump has spoken about the contentious topic again. In an interview with NBC News, US President Trump said, "Kashmir is a very complicated place. You have the Hindus, and you have the Muslims, and I wouldn’t say they get along so great. And that’s what you have right now.” Trump said he was happy to help calm the situation in Kashmir where tensions have spiked since India revoked Article 370.
On Monday, Trump spoke on the phone with his "two good friends" - PM Modi and Imran Khan - and urged them to work towards reducing tensions over Kashmir. He further advised Pakistan to "moderate its rhetoric with India" over Kashmir.

US President Trump during his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said at the White House in July. "Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked me to help with the Kashmir issue; I would love to be a mediator," Trump said. After US President Donald Trump's controversial statement, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) India clarified that no such request has been made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the US President.
