Washington, February 9: The US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced the location for the second summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. The summit will place on February 27 and 28 in Vietnam’s Hanoi. Trump tweeted, “My representatives have just left North Korea after a very productive meeting and an agreed upon time and date for the second Summit with Kim Jong Un. It will take place in Hanoi, Vietnam, on February 27 & 28. I look forward to seeing Chairman Kim & advancing the cause of peace!”

Meanwhile, on February 5, Trump told Congress in his second State of the Union (SOTU) address about the dates of the summit. During his address, he said that the US would continue its push for peace with North Korea. The US president further added that, it was he who controlled the situation; otherwise, the US would have been in war with North Korea. However, on February 5, UN sanctions monitor released a report saying that North Korea is continuing to stockpile nuclear weapons and is working to ensure that they cannot be destroyed in air raids. The two leaders met in June last year at a resort island of Sentosa in Singapore for the first time. Following the 48-minute discussion, the two heads of state vowed to resolve all pending disputes.
