Washington, October 15: Amid the on-going trade war between the United States and China, Donald Trump hinted at imposing another round of tariffs on Chinese products. In an interview to CBS, Trump said that he wanted that the Chinese government should negotiate a better deal with the US. Till now, the US has imposed three rounds of tariffs on Chinese imports at the tune of $250 billion. While retaliating to the US tariff, China also retaliated by imposing tariffs on the US products.
Trump also accused China of meddling in the US politics. During the interview when asked about Russia meddling into the US presidential elections of 2016, Trump said that Russia meddled in the elections. The US president further added that he thought China also intervened. In September, The Trump administration imposed 10 percent tariffs on $200 billion on Chinese goods.
China retaliated immediately with new taxes of 5 to 10 per cent on $60 billion of US goods such as meat, chemicals, clothes and auto parts. The tariffs imposed on Chinese products included hundreds of millions of dollars of furniture and electronics imports. The US tariffs imposed earlier in the year mostly hit industrial goods. In June also, the US had imposed $34 billion tariffs on Chinese products.
