Tennessee, June 1: A tragic incident of dog attack occurred in Knoxville in US’ Tennessee, where a family’s husky mauled their six-week-old baby to death. The attack happened around a week ago while baby Ezra Mansoor was sleeping in his crib. Despite not crying at the time, the infant was severely injured, suffering a brain bleed and brain swelling, and he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, May 30.
"Being Ezra’s mom was the biggest honor and the best thing I’ve ever done,” his mother, Chloe Mansoor said. Ezra had been in critical condition in the hospital for nearly a week before he passed away, reported New York Post.
The baby's parents, Mark and Chloe Mansoor, are now warning others about the dangers of leaving babies alone with pets. Chloe told WBIR, "You just think it would never happen to you, but it can happen to anyone, with any dog breed, no matter how long you've had the dog." The husky, one of two dogs the family owned, had never shown signs of aggression before. The family described the attack as completely "unprovoked," noting that Ezra was not crying when it occurred. "Ezra was just asleep in his crib — not crying or anything. And she just attacked out of nowhere," Chloe said. Dog Attack in US: Man Dies After Pit Bulls Charge at Him in California's Compton.
In a bid to help other families in need, Ezra’s parents have decided to donate his organs. An online fundraiser has been set up to support them during this difficult time.
Chloe also urged the public to cherish every moment with their loved ones, saying, "One should never take anything for granted even if it’s a moment you’re annoyed in the moment or frustrated in. All of those little moments are still so amazing." She asked for prayers for their family, saying, "Pray for all the family really, everyone loved him so much. I know everyone’s grieving right now, we’re grieving right now, and it’s going to be a lifelong process trying to work through this."
The family’s husky has been sent to an animal shelter while the Knox County Sheriff’s Office conducts an investigation. Young-Williams Animal Center released a statement confirming the dog is under a 10-day bite quarantine as required by state law following the incident on May 24, 2024.
