Yorkshire, September 6: A distressing incident unfolded in Huddersfield on Monday, September 4, afternoon when an out-of-control dog, identified as a Pitbull, attacked a schoolboy and an adult man, leaving them both with serious leg injuries. West Yorkshire Police swiftly responded to the distressing scene on Fairfield Road, where concerned members of the public had reported the attack. The victims, a ten-year-old boy and an adult male, sustained significant leg wounds during the alarming encounter.
Fortunately, their injuries, while severe, are not believed to be life-threatening. According to multiple reports, the dog responsible for the attack was described as a family pet and was eventually brought under control by the police officers who arrived at the scene. The incident unfolded shortly before 1 pm when police were alerted to the dog's rampage in the backyard of a residence. An adult woman at the location had also suffered a bite wound to her hand, further underscoring the chaos and danger that had unfolded. A statement from the West Yorkshire Police disclosed, "At around 12.50 pm, police received a call from an address at Fairfield Road regarding a dog attacking people. Officers from Kirklees have attended, supported by officers from the Operations department. The dog involved was a family pet described as a Pitbull type and had bitten a 10-year-old child and a male adult. Both have injuries to their leg described as serious but not life-changing." Following the incident, both injured parties were promptly transported to the hospital for necessary medical treatment. This disconcerting incident echoes another recent canine-related tragedy in Oldham, Greater Manchester, where police were forced to take down two dangerous dogs that had mauled a woman and her pet cockapoo. The dogs had been running loose in the Moorside area, and after they attacked the woman, armed police and a police helicopter descended upon the scene.
