Canberra, October 20: In a horrific incident in Australia, a man was allegedly mauled to death by his own pet dog at his home in Allens Rivulet, Australia. The shocking incident took place on Sunday night, nearly a few weeks after the deceased man's wife shared a Facebook post where she advocated blaming owners for dogs that behaved badly. The deceased has been identified as Noel Backhouse (66).

According to a report in the Sun.Co.UK, Noel Backhouse and his wife Karen 'Maree' Anderson (64) were attacked by their pet dog "Ruben", a Rottweiler. Police officials said that Noel sustained fatal bite wounds on his hands and arms while his wife sustained injuries to her lower legs. Colin Riley, Tasmanian Police Inspector, said that the attack appeared to be random. Dog Attack in Australia: Woman Viciously Attacked By Her Two Rottweilers in Perth As Neighbours Watch.

"This is a family that have had a loved pet. Unfortunately, that animal has turned on them and it's had tragic outcomes," he added. Cops said that the incident comes a few weeks after Karen, a teacher by profession, shared a post where she supported the idea that aggressive dogs were the fault of their owners. After the traffic incident, the pet dog was euthanised.

Meanwhile, the couple's two other pets, including a French Bulldog and a German Shepard, were reportedly seized by the council. Nearly a year and a half ago, Noel was allegedly attacked by a pit bull while he was walking out with his three dogs.
