The government of Rajasthan has banned spitting in public places amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the Epidemic Diseases Act, strict action would be taken against individuals found spitting in public, said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Maharashtra government on Saturday issued addendum in its Friday's order and also exempted Print media from lockdown from April 20 onwards. The order stated that door-to-door delivery of newspapers and magazines will remain prohibited during the lockdown in the state.

A positive trend has been noted in 47 districts across 23 states. No positive cases has been reported in the last 28 days in Mahe of Puducherry, and Kodagu of Karnataka, Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Union Health Ministry said. He added saying that in 45 other districts, no new positive cases have been reported in last 14 days.

Mortality rate in our country is around 3.3%. An age-wise analysis will tell you that 14.4% death has been reported in age group of 0-45 yrs. Between 45-60 yrs it is 10.3%, between 60-75 yrs it is 33.1% & for 75 yrs and above it is 42.2%: Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secy, Health Ministry.

New Delhi, April 18: The coronavirus tally in India touched a total of 13835 cases till Friday. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) also informed that a total of 3,35,123 samples, taken from 3,18,449 individuals, were tested for coronavirus till Friday evening. It said the number of samples are higher as many suspected patients are tested more than once. "At least 14,098 individuals have been confirmed positive among suspected cases and contacts of known positive cases in India," the ICMR said in a statement. Keep an eye on this space for all the latest news and updates on coronavirus from India and across the world that take place throughout the day today.
