Agra, February 18: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Taj Mahal on Sunday, along with his wife Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and three kids Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien. The iconic Mughal-era monument is the first-stop of Trudeau's eight-day India tour, which would feature his visits to Ahmedabad, Amritsar and Mumbai, apart from the national capital where he would hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Trudeau left for Agra from Delhi at around 9:00 am and reached the Taj Mahal at 11:00 am. Security was enhanced at the monument, with the locals being barred from entering the premises. Trudeau, along with his family was scheduled to return to the national capital by 3:30 pm.

On Monday, Trudeau will be touring Ahmedabad where he would visit the Sabarmati Ashram and the Akshardham temple, apart from attending an event organised by the IIM-Ahmedabad.
On Feb 20, the Canadian PM is scheduled to participate in multiple meetings in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. Among the delegation which have sought his appointment include representatives of the Indian Film industry.
Trudeau, along with his accompanying Cabinet colleagues - Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains, Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan, Science and Sports Minister Kirsty Duncan and Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi - will be visiting the Golden Temple, the holiest site for Sikhs in Amritsar on Feb 21.
On Feb 23, he would be holding a bilateral summit with PM Modi in Delhi. He is also scheduled to visit the Jama Masjid. Trudeau on Feb 24 is scheduled to address a conference of young change-makers, before concluding his visit on Feb 25. The last visit by a Canadian PM to India came in 2012. Trudeau's visit comes nearly 3 years after Modi visited Canada in April 2015.
