Mumbai, August 2: Health authorities in Canada are urging the public to avoid swimming at Regina Beach due to high levels of bacteria detected in the water. Recent tests revealed elevated bacterial counts, which pose potential health risks to swimmers. On Thursday, August 1, the SHA began posting signs to warn that the water at Regina Beach is not safe for swimming or recreational activities.
The warning is due to dangerously high levels of E. coli in the water, which can cause illness if ingested. Symptoms of infection include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting. The SHA conducts weekly water tests, and the latest results show E. coli levels at Regina Beach have surged to over 30 times higher than a month ago, according to the province's Healthy Beaches website.
