According go a NYPost report, the teacher also sent the boy explicit pictures of herself. Solis would organise meet-ups with the student. Further, she also gave him a pass for recess and spent alone time with him by saying she was helping him with homework. According to a news release from the Butte County District Attorney’s office Solis sent four explicit pictures of herself and then had sex with the teen inside a locked classroom on the day of the student’s eighth-grade graduation. She directed the victim to delete their “communications.”
The matter came to light after nude pictures of the teacher spread throughout the town of Gridley, 50 miles north of Sacramento, and police looked into the boy's phone – finding messages to the teacher and two naked photos.
The lawsuit claims the school failed to monitor teacher Michelle Solis’ behavior and did not train staff to recognise grooming, as reported by the New York Post. The suit seeks general damages for the student’s physical, emotional, and mental trauma. Attorney Mark Boskovich stated that the sexual abuse has left the boy deeply traumatised with long-lasting effects.
Michelle Solis, a teacher of 20 years, was sentenced to four years in prison in July 2024. She is currently serving her sentence at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla.
