California, August 31: A California man, Michael Farchi, 62, has filed a lawsuit against the Venetian Resort in Las Vegas after a scorpion sting in his hotel room allegedly ruined his sex life and left him with severe physical and psychological damage. The incident occurred during the 2023 Christmas holiday while Farchi was staying in the Palazzo Tower of the luxury resort.

According to the lawsuit filed on August 27, Farchi was asleep when he was jolted awake by a searing pain in his groin area. He quickly discovered a scorpion under the covers, which had bitten his testicles, reported Metro. Farchi also experienced multiple stings on his hand and groin area before alerting hotel staff. The lawsuit claims that the hotel breached its duty of care by failing to provide a safe, pest-free environment, citing a previous infestation of scorpions on the property. New Jersey Woman Claims Seatmate ‘Digitally Penetrated’ Her As She Slept During Night Flight, Sues American Airlines for ‘Failing to Prevent Sex Assault’.

Farchi was diagnosed with "Poisoning: Scorpion Sting" at Summerlin Hospital and later treated at UCLA Medical Center, where doctors attributed his erectile dysfunction to the scorpion sting. He reports suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), ongoing pain, and mental anguish following the incident. US Cop Allegedly Sends Sex-Related Messages to Married Woman While on Duty, Faces Enquiry.

Farchi's wife, Batia, is also part of the lawsuit, claiming a loss of consortium due to the impact on their sexual relationship. The couple, who reside in a USD 1.2 million home in Agoura Hills, California, allege that the hotel staff mocked Farchi’s situation, adding to his embarrassment and distress.

The lawsuit seeks a jury trial to determine damages for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental distress, loss of companionship, and loss of enjoyment of life. Farchi’s attorney, Brian Virag, spoke about the hotel’s responsibility, noting that they were aware of prior issues with scorpions on the property.
